C. Ardo is yelling! YAAAARGH!
WIP from THRESHOLD pt3. i like this panel.
C. is Ardo's (and Patel's) family name, just C.
THRESHOLD is a four part science fiction comic about a murder conspiracy that takes place in a totally unchecked and powerful corporate environment, in a VR-centric future.
It focuses on the hacker and handler Banno and Meihardeu, the two CEOs C. Ardo and Attin Parin, the investigators and hacker/handler duo Gaeta and Tarro, and the prostitute, Tuon.
part 3 begins next month!
parts 1 and 2 on my site, 18+ only
contains rape, violence, nudity, strong language, etc

thanks! it's told in a pretty dry or challenging way so the audience has to kind of figure out what's going on by witnessing these sort of disparate events.
i was really nervous about this comic because it's sort of confusing and there's tons of characters, but folk seem to really like it!!
my only prob with it is, in the first issue, when Meihardeu and Banno hypnotize and then rape this guy called Glin, it came off more porny than i thought it would :I that's what happens when you draw so much porn i guess, haha

so far i have it coming out in volumes, pt 1 and 2 are in print already. not sure about a single book. it's be pretty awesome, a little awkward though because there's some stylistic differences between each issue. good chance that's something that only i notice, though. it seems many folk like big volumes but it's not something i usually think about because i personally prefer individual issues.
That's my preference as well; didn't word myself a-rightly. I am not a fan of books that can double as doorstops.
Reading Cormac McCarthy's "the Road" reaffirmed my feelings about long books. Everything has its role, but very few of the Gigantotexts I've managed to slog through recently have even come close to matching the power of McCarthy's writing. He paints vivid pictures of a dying world in 200 pages or so.
Honestly, I don't know if style shifts are that big of a deal to readers. I used to wonder about that. I mean, if you spend all that time drawing, you're bound to improve and to have your style evolve. From my conversations with Thomas_Blue it seems like people only grump about such things if they take place over the course of pages as opposed to books.

yeah i tend toward a sort of medium length story as well, the road was awesome, it's the only cormac book i've read, my brother keeps trying to get me to read suttree and blood meridian. there are certainly exceptions though, i mean i read Song of Ice and Fire and that's like 5 huge books with two more yet to come!! (well, rather, i listened to the audiobooks, haha) no matter the story's length, though, i like the idea of it coming out in sort of small volumes that you can pick up whenever and read sort of briefly. it's not a popular method of publication for book here in the states, but it's pretty common with comics so i'm rockin that out.
good point about style change too. you can tell when an artist has done each page one at a time instead of using a more broad process. by page 4 everything already looks totally different! a gradual shift is ok and feels natural. i've even seen it in really pro comics, like akira.
